I made some bags and I like them a lot
Granted it would have gone a lot faster with a sewing machine.... but whatever

La Fea Mas Bella

My favorite of all the new shows in the line up this season is Ugly Betty.
I think it will be a big hit, I saw the first episode in a re-air and it was really great.
They gave it a huge amount of test screens, especially in front of Latino audiences to see how well it did.

The buzz caught on so quicky, that they put it on Thursday nights at 8pm as a lead in to Gray's Anatomy!
After I saw the show I have to say it's worth the time slot. Slama Hayek did a good job in choosing this adaptation of Yo Soy Betty La Fea for her production company.

America Ferrera and Eric Mabius are great choices for the lead characters. Of course Alan Dale from Neighbors and Young Doctors (Australian Soap Operas) is always great to see.

Informal Fallacies and Greg

I met Greg Koukl after his talk on Moral Relativism.
I thought he was an extremely intelligent person. He speaks for a living, but he was really good at what he did.
I read a lot of his articles and I liked when he answered some of the questions posed, citing informal fallacies such as:
Ad hominem
Genetic fallacy
Psychogenic fallacies

I feel he was preaching to the choir though. Most of the people if not all the people there already agreed with what he had to say.
When I talked to him, he cleared up some of the things I read in some of the articles he wrote. I wish I would have asked him about MLK because I saw that he was dejected about certain things and I really think he wants to talk to someone about it...
Maybe next time..It was great/interesting meeting him.

I asked E about trying vegetarianism.
She recommended meat substitutes like tofu. I've actually made curried tofu, sauteed tofu, and stir fried tofu before and they were all very good. I actually could do it. I would eat eggs too and be that kind of vegetarian.
I formulated a lot of recipes when I was going through my vegetarian trials and I notice that I eat way less carbs (bread, pasta, potatoes, cookies, cake, pizza, pastries), than everyone else.
I don't have any particular philosophy behind doing it, except to see if I will feel healthier, so I will see how it goes.
I actually use a lot of vegtables. A lot of eggplant, cabbage, carrots and lettuce. I like these a lot. I really enjoy Bok choi as well. I really should write my recipes down
I'll also have to start after I clear my freezer out of all that chicken I bought on sale at Publix :)

Road Trip

Oprah and Gayle took a Road Trip and they showed it on TV. I am more like Gayle....I sing a lot and llike the music on.
I didn't realize that Oprah was so picky about that stuff. It's like geez!
Oprah didn't want to talk either on a seven hour trip!
I was all on Gayle's side for that one.
I had to drive one time to the beach and the passenger in the car slept the whole way (not you Jan lol)
I didn't like that at all..although I may have been guilty of that when I didn't know how to drive. Now I understand!

Just Friends

I watched the movie Just Friends recently and thought it was really funny.
So I looked it up online and I happened to find a a site called Just Friends which is a premier social club. ou pay money for membership but then there are benefits to being a member.
I looked at the pictures of the parties and everyone seemed to be having fun.
Everyone or some people were pretty or beautiful but I don't know that I get that it's a JUST FRIENDS thing.
It looked more like it could be a SINGLES social club. I belive if you ask the people there, they would tell you that they want to meet someone there for not JUST FRIENDS
The only way to find out would be to join but I dunno if I would want to commit to it. It's based in California anyway, so that would not make sense.
They have a Taste of Chocolate party and some yatch parties and charities.
I don't know if its because it is based in California or what but something seemes too.....
It just doesn't really....
I dunno I want people to visit the site and tell me what they think of it.

Downtown Getdown

Was good but hot...I don't think we will go there for a while. I was really surprise dby the marching chief because they sounded like DRUMLINE! They really had some soul to their music!
The really interesting thig was that the music at the 'kids' stage was better than the music way down at the other end. They really were stretching on the older band's mucic I think.

Up at the kids end though, I was really amazed.
The kids knew all the words to all the songs from the charts and ALL the dances. I was a little bit shocked because some of those kids really knew some vulgar moves. I was wondering where they learned that then I thought TV.
I know I couldn't do some of those moves and seriously would not want to anyway. Least of all in public.
They seemed to be having fun though...I guess that that is what counts LOL.

The Creek

I just saw an episode of Dawson's Creek. It was the first one ever for the series.
Wow those were some intense teenagers.
I mean teenagers have a lot going on in general, and I don't know if it's just me but I did't have as much as they did going on.
Firstly the climbing up the ladder to sleep in the bed of James van der Beek.
I mean I guess that's ok, but she had to row a boat to getto his house inthe first place...That's a lot of work to go sleep in the bed isn't it?
Then all the over alayzing of everything. I got so tired watching them. I felt they needed to just go and hang out at the mall.
Or better yet go do some school work. I know that that took up all MY time. LOL
Nevertheless I watched the whole thing because nothing is more entertaining than teen angst TV shows.
I wonder if real American Teenagers have so much going on?

Phone Calls

Sometimes it never occurs to you to call.
You IM and you email and go along with life. You have really good friends that you just email or IM and that is what you do. Some people you never even met!
Then one say someone says: Hey, you know I don't have your phone number
Then you say: You know I never even thought about it
So you exchange numbers and because you have the number, you call...
THEN BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A whole new thing...a twist in your relationship kinda...
It feels surreal...
Like a next step.
It feels so weird that all you can do is laugh on the phone like how you laugh on IM. :)
SO there you go.

Roxie Roker

I love the Jeffersons and i have been fortunate to watch most of the episodes again on TV land. WOW. It's still so funny after all these years. I used to watch it when I was so small!
Now I understand all the jokes and it is great.
I always liked Roxie Roker though.
She wore the best clothes and was really elegant and pretty. She reminds me of my friend Frances B.

She won an Obie in 1970 for "The River Niger" (I have that movie at homeon DVD!)

When she auditioned for her role in "Jeffersons, The" (1975), the producer mentioned to her that he wasn't sure she looked believable as a African American woman married to a white man. In response, she produced a family picture with her husband who was white. As a result, she was immediately cast.
Grandmother of Zoey Kravitz.
Cousin of Al Roker

Labor Day Weekend

When you get to a different country you have to follow some of the traditions.
So when Sean and Kayla invited us to watch footbal we had to go.
I have no clue in general what the game is about, except for a yellow line that the TV people put in, but I went anyway.
We also went to Cafe.
Eric came in to visit.
He cut his hair and looked so cool! I swaer he should OWN the bar...

Todd was super nice too. They were all going to miami to watch the game. They had their hotel and tickets comped too! The only thing that I thought may have put a damperon things was that it rained all weekend in Miami....I don't know if they were affected or not.

Alex was also very cool. He was pouring the 'juice' out from the olives into little bottles and I forgot to ask him if that was for the DIRTY MARTINIS.

Joe made faces...I am not going to say more..Just look at the picture.

Sean set up this huge screen in the backyard and gave us these comfortable chairs. That was nice. They had a big spread of food too.
We also saw Sean's friend Jason. Who came with a dog (it was really hyper)......LOL.
I had fun and the food was great. I had a lot of broccoli salad.
Thanks Sean
