So at this presentation one of the most interesting things was this woman trying to recreate
This
She had started but that was just a trial.
She used satin instead of silk chiffon and fake rosettes so far etc...
I want to see the finished product. It looks like a massive undertaking

Umm - Hairy
This morning early I was walking from the parking garage and I saw a guy in a dark blue ( I think) car just sitting there as I walked in his direction.
He was facing me and pulled a deep draught of his cigarette.
I saw the red of the burn the fire makes with the tobacco and the paper.
I could tell as I walked closer and closer toward the car that this couldn't be good at all. It was better for me to walk in his direction though than to walk back to the garage and have him follow me there.
I had my keys in my hand and was ready...for what I don't know, but it's time to walk with my pepper spray in hand again.
As I walked by he said something unintelligible, but he moved his car so he could get closer to say it...
All I heard was "Dunno what will do to you tomorrow"
I think I will park somewhere else tomorrow and in future
The guy's face was long and drawn (all his features were long and drawn), long face, long nose, and he had a camouflage cap on. He had a dark jacket on but I think he had a grey sweatshirt hoodie underneath because you know when they zip the jacket all the way up sometimes the hoodie part bunches up round the neck.
I made sure to look at him briefly, so I could describe him. That's all I really needed to know....
I am thinking I should let someone know there is a weirdo lurking at the parking garage but maybe later....

Only This
I went for a few minutes to that thing. I felt that it may be good but when I got there and sat down I felt tacky and uncomfortable so I left. I felt tacky because the whole thing was tacky, contrived and ick. I guess I shouldn't be so harsh because they did try...
I left before it started but not before I got a pic of this, which comforted me for a while, and the food (see my food blog), which I didn't eat, because I felt out of sorts, and I just didn't feel inclined to eat that stuff anyway....
I just felt ugh...

Short Films
These were nominated for Academy awards
At Night
Il Supplente
Le Mozart Des Pickpockets
Tanghi Argentini
The Tonto Woman
These were all good but my favorite was The Tonto Woman.
Francesco Quinn, floored me.... All I remember was him, and not because I thought he was hot even though he was. He was such a good actor. He drew me in and kept me in. He looked different. He is a small man with HUGE hands and huge presence. The story was excellent. I hope this wins. I really do.

Quarter Life
This is going to be interesting...because I really like:
This guy Scott Foster, who I think can actually make it big if he, in a couple of years starts taking more serious roles.
The idea of Quarter life is good..The writing is really iffy and some of the cast...eh :(
Scott you'll make it...
I love this guy's potential

7 things
I dunno if I'll get to 7 but the thing is that they say to tell seven strange things about yourself. I dunno if these are strange but...
1. A while ago a friend of mine and I would do laundry.
It was great if we did a huge load. Then when it came out of the dryer I would lay on the bed and he would throw all the warm clothes on top me and then dive in.
We would throw the clothes up in the air and scream and laugh..it was so warm and good and fun! Hahah I am a kid at heart
Then we would fold and put away
2. Much as I like the laundry thing, the detergent smell makes me feel ill...
3. On cold nights I like to turn on my fan. That way I have an excuse to pile blankets on me and scrunch down underneath them with music on....
4. I think romance is someone offering to run errands with you and then you guys end up having a good time and laughing...eh that's just me I guess.
5. Ease of laughter is the way I can tell that someone has a heart at ease and if the friendship will be one that can develop.
6. I like when small things are shiny. I always do a double take and think "oooohhh shiny" I always reach out to touch it (yeh I'm childish hahah)
7. Food on a plate. I eat the 'yucky' things first (intersperse with some good things), but leave the best for last. :)

Love this article
I watched the movie American Gangster again last night and loved it even more....
Then I read this article, which looked at the factual nature of the movie.
The only thing I objected to was Richie Roberts saying that Frank Lucas was not a family man and that the scene with his whole family together disgusted him.
Well of course it disgusted him. Anybody who has no clue as to what family lifeis like would not believe that anybody else could have it!
I thought, get a grip Richie...It's not that deep...
American Gangster Article.
Frank's daughter with his wife Julie (Eva), has her own site too!

Pride and Prejudice
I'd seen it before when I was younger, but never got into it for a few reasons
1. They did say that the girls were pretty and I never thought they were, as a result I couldn't believe anything else
2. I had no time for dark brooding men who said mean things, and you were supposed to understand that there is a deep inner life inside them, full of hurt and pain. Mean is mean- get over yourself and join the human race.
Everybody's got pain, not everybody has to turn it into rude meanness
3. I couldn't abide their clothes
4. Mr. Bingley's sisters were hideous
5. I was a serious teenager. I just couldn't get into them fannying about, giggling and waiting round for husbands who had 5000 or 10,000 pounds a year. It was all they talked about.
6. Then there were a lot of military men in this plot. Talking about love and wooing girls. Everyone knows that military men are whores.
Making themselves 'known' in every port, and every harbor at the four corners of the earth. It's true even today. Most women I know would never trust a military man in that way.
So where does that leave me now.
Well I love Colin Firth as an actor so I watched again. With new eyes this time.
I really like Crispin Bonham-Carter in this movie. His pretty, kind and welcoming eyes draw you into his character, of the trusting and kindly Mr. Bingley. Very sweet.
Adorable really.
Great choice of actors in this movie.
All the mean spirited, smarmy, or disagreeable characters have very sharp features, noses, eyebrows, thin pursed lips, never smiling unless they felt they'd one-upped someone else. Like Mr. Wickham. Charming and made friends easily. Not so easy to keep the friends when they sense his inner nastiness...
Great choices.
Innocent, artless characters had fresh faced, big eyed awareness.
Lovely.
The costuming was brilliant and the scenery.
Ok I love it. I still can't get into giving one's self over to a man who starts off as a very disagreeable person.
Snide and critical (sorry Colin I know the character develops into something more but that rarely happens in real life).
Oh sure one can be 'friends' or friendly at least, and muck about as much as one wants, but never ever consider the possibility of anything more than that. That's what I think anyway.
Anyway lovely movie.
See this version (not that awful pile of who-ha starring Kiera Knightly).

Super Movie
I loved this movie. I thought it would be not so good because sometimes Tyler tries to do too much in his movies.
But OMG. Why Did I Get Married?
It was wonderful.
ALL the characters were so real and true.
All the situations you could relate to.
The sad bits made me tear up, funny bits made me laugh, the 'bastardry' incensed me, not over the top just normal.
I know these 'people' and these 'situations' etc..
Jill Scott and Tasha Smith captured me with their characters.
BUT then of course they used all the gorgeous guys in Hollywood they could find :)
I am going to buy this movie

Sam Beam
My favorite video of his Southern Anthem

But he directed the video himself and I love that he has such a good eye for shots etc...
He is atypical

Just Remembered
Dunno why this came to mind except I am currently listening this music and it popped up-but it struck me as funny
Uncle Cherry had a guitar.
I dunno if I ever hear him play but he made a big deal over the silly guitar.
I think I was 5 or 6 and he was trying to tune it or something.
He couldn't tune it and accused us of messing with his stupid guitar.
Remember this sis?
Then Tantie said she was sure I did it.
I was so upset, but I didn't move, cry or anything.
I found the guitar a couple days later, and strummed and strummed as hard as I could and as long as I could, and turned those tuning keys as hard as I could, till I got bored...
Funnily enough he didn't realise THEN that someone had REALLY messed with it
That's what I'm looking for :)
That's about as wicked as my wicked side got when I was little...
I thought I may as well enjoy myself, if stuff was going to start getting stressy...I think that's a little bit how I see things still.

Ira Lippke
Is really the best. Izzy was right.
I have looked and looked at so many photographers.
He has an eye for just the best shots.
Then he sets the shots to music and oh my.....I keep visiting the pages
I was trying to explain him to the guy for my thing next week.
I hope he gets it.
In his studio there is only one pic that resembles Ira's work
I hope I am not disappointed.
Meanwhile I am blown away by Ira. He gets the faces and the eyes and the feeling behind the thing..
Blown away. Whenever it's the right time I am going to look him up.
This is one of my favorites
But this one..omg you can FEEL the Happy

Want to see
I'm making a list for when I get some time.
The Diving Bell and The Butterfly- directed by Julian Schnabel
It is the story of Jean Dominique Bauby, a former French journalist and editor of ELLE magazine who was paralysed by a stroke at the age of 43
I also want to see
Blood and Chocolate
Un Secret
The Roman Spring of Mrs Stone

Committments
Promises and obligations today. Nice as they are....
Only reason I am not in bed laid up.
Somewhere somehow someone transmitted to me the flu.
In and out of sleep
Nice dreams though (Clint Eastwood saves me from attackers and I get big warm hugs) :)
Sitting up cuz of headaches
Pacing cuz I'm too hot
Under covers because one second later is too cold
This blows
I took the Echinacea.
My last.
I will get some more and hopefully I won't be laid up. :(
