I saw the Virtual museum and thought it was cute.
I love Valentino as a designer because everything he designed was delicate
Since he sold the company you can tell the difference in the clothes coming out and being produced.
It's so different now...
However he is still the figure head.
At Taschen, his book of designs/clothing is 1000 dollars or more.
Of course the collection of red dresses over the years is a big attraction to both the book and the museum.

While I don't follow the Valentino brand of work anymore (because I sensed the change since he left) watching the museum is a good throwback
Seriously the shows themselves are different.
There is a harsher feel, edgier..I dunno.
It's not as SOFT as the Valentino style
Therefore the
Valentino Garavani
Virtual museum is the best way apart from the book and the documentary to keep in touch with the classic Valentino style

Bayou
It's late and I'm watching Eve's Bayou
One of my favorite movies ever.
This is a movie where I learned the lines and can recite them as the movie plays
Lynn Whitfield MADE that movie
I love her in everything
Love this movie
Dark imaginings
Careless with feelings...
It's very heart wrenching watching this movie.
I haven't watched it in a few years because it's so stressful
Sunday kind of love
I can't watch too often

Fun Talks
Denzel and Viola talking about Fences
Who knew that they were both so funny
I was laughing from the get go
Denzel explaining about previous plays and the audience getting so into it that he almost stopped and asked one lady "you goin through something?"
LOL
And Viola talking about vexed people in the audience who showed up, but had auditioned (unsuccessfully) for the same play.
So cute

Sigh...
Oh, so long before this night I prayed
That a star would guide you my way
To share with me this special day
Well, ribbons in the sky for our love
If allowed, may I touch your hand
And if pleased may I once again?
So that you too will understand
There's a ribbon in the sky for our love
Do do
Do do do do do
Hmm hmm
This is not a coincidence
And far more than a lucky chance
But what it is that was always meant
Is our ribbon in the sky for our love, love
We can't lose with God on our side
We'll find strength in each tear we cry
From now on it will be you and I
And our ribbon in the sky
Ribbon in the sky
A ribbon in the sky for our love
Do do
Do do do do do
Hmm hmm

So swiftly flown away
Hope seems like the summer birds
Too swiftly flown away
Could I hold you for for a lifetime
Could I look into your eyes
Could I have this night to share this night together
Para siempre
Oh Whitney
I really miss you :(
Sick with grief...

Lecture
Watched a lecture on Ryskamp and his collection of drawings
The lecture was about an hour long at the Frick in NYC
Very interesting
How he collected
How Many
How he displayed
Where he displayed in his house
Invitations to students to talk about art and collections
With connections to The Frick Collection, the Morgan Library, Yale and other distinguished libraries, with art collections, the lecture gave a history of Ryskamp's academic study life as well as his time teaching.
It detailed how he decided which drawings to buy, who he hung out with, and where he traveled to, and how often.
He traveled extensively.
However it sounds as if one HAD to be committed to just that life, and maybe little else...
The Mellons invited him to share a lot of activities, horses, garden history, boats, countryside etc...
Then it all sounded amazing to me
Of course you have to hang out with people who have that interest.
I don't know that many people who ALREADY know much about it..
I'll try and do all of this though
:)

"Charles Ryskamp: A Life in Arts and Letters"
It was interesting because the lecture kind of gave you insight into this other kind of world where people who are really passionate about art and books, just endeavour to collect what they view as meaningful to them. With connections to The Frick Collection, the Morgan Library, Yale and other distinguished libraries, with art collections, the lecture gave a history of Ryskamp's academic study life as well as his time teaching.

I wasn't sure if he did a variety of other activities until Ryskamp met Paul Mellon.

I want to do some of the stuff he did.
