Andrew Ross Representing,
Envirochina: An FSU-China Design Collaboration
Opening Reception
I wanted to go to this to see what people who had been to China had seen
Pollution there seems to be really bad.
Poverty too.
I hesitate to compare to other cases of poverty and pollution world wide. But I belive the problems may be similar, the world over.
There weren't many people there, and I wanted to talk to the artist (red shirt), but as is usual with these things, there was an annoying lady who took up his entire time before I was ready to go.
He was trying to get away, you could tell but she kept asking him questions, on and on...
Noone got to talk to him, by the time I left. :(
I really liked the art though.
It wasn't tacky or grotesque but it did make you think.
It evoke the emotions that the artist seemed to desire from the viewer.
I know because I heard him talking to that lady hahaha
My favorite piece was the Mcdonalds "I'm hating it" picture

Aries Spears
I met Aries Spears tonight from Mad TV
He was really a super cool guy :)
Amazingly funny too!
His show was really funny, except for some crude jokes for which we all cringed :(
Michael Jackson jokes are always very gross.
Anyway there was an opeining act of improv comedians who were somewhat funny. I liked them, and for improv it was really good. Everyone was laughing and having a good time.
Life doesn't have to be so serious all the time.

Royksopp: Remind me
I really like this song a lot. Norweigian music really sounds 80's a lot, but that is what makes them so cool sometimes.
I am not really into the band so much because its mainly electronic music that they do but whatever... I like this song
Artist: royksopp
Song: remind me
Album: melody a.m.
(chorus) Will remind, will remind, will remind me,
Will remind, will remind, will remind me,
Will remind, will remind, will remind me,
Will remind, will remind, will remind me.
It's only been a week,
The rush of being home in rapid fading.
Prevailing to recall
What I was missing, all that time in England
Has sent me aimlessly,
On foot or by the help of transportation,
To knock on windows where
A friend no longer live, I had forgotten.
(chorus)
And everywhere I go,
There's always something to remind me
Of another place and time
Where love that travelled far had found me.
We stayed outside till two,
Waiting for the light to come back,
But hid in talk I knew,
Until you asked what I was thinking.
(chorus)
Brave men tell the truth,
A wise man's tools are analogies and puzzles,
A woman holds her tongue,
Knowing silence will speak for her.
So now I'll never know,
As you will only sleep beside me,
And everywhere I go...
(chorus)
(repeat)
It's only been a week,
(Will remind, will remind, will remind me,)
The rush of being home in rapid fading.
(Will remind, will remind, will remind me,)
Prevailing to recall
(Will remind, will remind, will remind me,)

Missing Carnival
Once again I am missing the mas...
Sis says that it's all the same every year.
The thing is that I nver played so I really miss it..
I want to see what the hype is about
Jump around in the costume
Run around in the sun on Monday and Tuesday, almost faint, and get up again.
I want to run across the stage....
Maybe
I want the option at least.
I want to get with all the rest of us who never played and get going! Downtown...
At least once anyway
I don't know if it's worth it though.....

I don't usually do this
But I liked this car that Bear rented.
I thought it was cute.
I am not usually into cars and how they look and what guys drive (unless it really doesn't suit them).
This was a day we went walking with sis so I wore my exercise clothes. Then we would run and hide from Bear and try to jump out and scare him round the buildings...Only problem was that he always caught us! lol!

Inter Varsity Coffee Things
So I had a great time at the Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship Coffee thing.
Jay and a couple other guys came.
I really really enjoyed the conversation.
We talked about school :(, movies :), relationships :), God, and hiking and all manner of things. Jay reada a lot.
I used to read a lot, and I know a lot because I have read a lot, but it was kinda shameful to listen to Jay talk.
He just is so well read and well versed in so many things. Things I like anyway. Theology, psychology etc etc...
Oh well I will catch up on the readings after I get out of technical articles and technical writing.
I asked him to post his booklist hahah
We went to the coffee cafe which is so nice inside and has free wireless. I may go there to do some work!

45s
I saw them at an antique sale for 5 dollars each and decided I wanted them.
I was surprised the guy let them go so cheaply.
I think he didn't realize that they are actually collector's items.
I showed them to an older lady after and she wanted to get them from me.
I can't give them up!
Eartha Kitt, Lena Horne and Harry Belafonte from 1954 and 1957.
I am never going to play them.
They aren't scratched and I have to get them cleaned but I think they are just the best purchase I ever made.
Well one of the best...:)
