7, 14, 21...49 UP

I watched a brilliant documentary by Tim Hewat called 7Up (directed by Paul Almond and Michael Apted) which folowed the lives of a number of childeren starting at age 7. Every 7 years they would interview the children all the way into adulthood to see what they were up to.
I found it to be absolutely amazing.  They selected children from various economic backgrounds in England and tracked their personal and professional lives.
What stood out to me was this.
At age 7 to 14 most of the children, the boys at least had an idea of what they were going to be or do professionally. They were asked what they would do if that didn't work out. Among the richer boys it seemed as if their first plan was their only plan and they all went on and did EXACTLY that.

The less rich boys had an idea and most seemed to want to go onto science etc and they did
The poorer boys all worked toward their goals, and some had to resort to plan B. However it was the SAME plan that they had thought of when they were much younger.

The women, it seems, their plans sort of  were affected by their relationships with men and so forth...It was very curious.
I had to get this down immediately.
By thhe time they were all 49, they had mellowed out considerably with age 35 being some sort of PIVOTAL  time frame from many life altering decisions.
I was just FLOORED by this film.
Tim Hewat was Brilliant.  I wish I could have met him.
