Ok so I'm getting my groove back and my legs and arches are doing great at the rink.
However I am not this bendy.

I seriously contemplated retiring the skates after contemplating a 'split on skates for the camera'. The skates, I know, would not cooperate.

In what can only be described as a 'McDonald's Binge', large amounts of 'unhealthy food' was consumed later.

I did not partake.

One of those Days

More and more in the mornings I have to walk when it's dark. The fairly bright light, sharp noises and sudden movements aren't so good for me.
It's weird because at midday its fine and bright sun is better than dark.
Later in the day when I am tired, I need to wait for the dark again.

I would sit under the statue to rest sometimes but there are bright lights at the base..no good
But today was warm and foggy and dark.
It felt really good

A friend of mine took me to the coast and we walked there till dark.
It was cold but I was warm (except for my fingers which burned with cold).
I really needed that

Cul de Sac

This is a group that I first heard yesterday and wished I had known of them before. The song I liked was Nico's Dream.
Below is some info about them...


One of the leading groups of instrumental neo-prog came out of Boston: Cul De Sac.


Their most innovative work, China Gate (1996), increased the doses of jazz and world-music, thus achieving both a convoluted and a hypnotic state of mind.

.... a slick texture that enhanced the melodic center of mass, and even lent the music a spiritual overtone, halfway between trance and fairy tale.

Formed in Boston from the ashes of countless glories of the local underground, Cul De Sac's first line-up consisted of Robin Amos on synthesizer, Chris Fujiwara on bass, Chris Guttmacher (ex Bullet La Volta) on drums and Glenn Jones on guitar.

Jones, a close acquaintance of John Fahey, came with a background of country, rockabilly and surf, playing a lap-steel guitar "prepared" in the tradition of avantgarde composer John Cage.

Guttmacher was a fan of avant-jazz composers such as Cecil Taylor and Sun Ra.

Amos was knowledgeable of American and European underground rock, and his synthesizer was perhaps the first to evoke the memory of Allen Ravenstine (Pere Ubu).

Eastern Promises

Was good. I liked it.
It wasn't the best movie I've seen in a while and I think mainly because Naomi Watts was in it...I really dislike her as an actress in anything. I liked the story/ plot but Naomi just killed this movie for me...Ugh...VERY BAD CHOICE OF ACTRESS
Thankfully, Viggo Mortensen and Vincent Cassell were there to save the day, and they did so beautifully and together....

They had great chemistry and acted well.

The show was rated R and I guess rightly so. I won't give away much but there was a good 6 minutes of Viggo fully fully naked (front and back) and things...
He is 49 yet his body is well taken care of :)
So go get the movie, its good Eastern European mobsters in London, the dirt they do, some instability, how they take care of business, prostitution, modern day slavery, death, grief, babies etc....

Night of Long Knives and Broken Glass

Well almost broken glass.
Ok so our experience wasn't as World War II Dramatic as the title makes it seem (check out the real night of broken glass, and the real night of long knives in your history books people).

We went to listen to Jazz which was cool...
The crowd was nice...cool

The drunk guy was very very drunk and unpredictable..It kinda freaked us out
It's ironic that we felt safer when a guy with a switch blade and his girlfriend sat close to us. We felt he would protect us if drunk guy came a- callin'

Drunk guy's seat kept getting closer and closer to us
The night was filled with tension.
I didn't think it would end well, when drunk guy passed out and someone stole his beer. I really started to become more and more aware of escape routes.

I of course in my mind had already figured out an escape rout for all of us that would be clean and quick..

We wouldn't trip over anything and we could fling something back to trip him if needs be...
I hate having to be hypervigilant but eh...
Meanwhile the jazz was great- Etienne was there!

I took a break thinking that it would revive me...I am even more tired.

Javier Bardem

Javier is my Jeffery Dean Morgan (love love) look-alike. He was the break-out star of No Country for Old Men, in my estimation.


He plays Anton Chigurh an assassin.

The great thing about this movie is that it looks at the characters motivations in doing what they do,and how they do things.
Very simple, very plain.
The character with the most depth to me was Anton, simply because there wasn't any real way to know his motivation. Just a job, annoyance, just because, the others deserve it? You had to assume.
The character was interesting too because whatever his motivation, he tried to distance himself from the killing decision.
Flipping coins, asking his victims random questions, giving arbitrary choices.

All Arbitrary. Not in his mind of course but still arbitrary. If I met him in real life I can tell that there would be a lot of miscommunication between us.
The character doesn't speak to you, just at you. No matter what you say, he's already onto his next thought his next step, his next action.
Interesting that he wouldn't take responsibility for his actions. Interesting but typical..it's always someone else's fault..They didn't connect to his thought process quickly enough or perfectly enough...always their fault.
