In Dance mode
That's all
Just the horns and the beat- mad fun in a club...I'm feelin it!
...Forget the lyrics..too rough
Mansfield Park
See it just because you want to see it...
It didn't move me like the others, till the last 5 minutes.
I am trying to be nice but this movie really dragged on. The actors really didn't seem to connect with each other at all...
They were supposed to connect (just read the book), but geez.
They tried I imagine, but it was a no go for me...
What I think happened is this:
Billie Piper (you've seen her on the more recent Dr. Who), is really too strong of a personality to play Fanny Price. She really tries to be delicate but her facial features are a little bit too strong for her to be able to pull it off. Blonde hair and dark eyebrows just make everything oogy. The incongruity is very obvious.
Then the men are never able to match up. Either too pansy-ish or too outlandish, and never in a good way..
This is weird because the book is really beautiful with language, perfect timing and rich characters....
Some of them are likeable and some annoying but rich nevertheless
Juno
If I watched it for the message...A little bit disturbing...
Michael Cera, since I first saw him on Arrested Development (with Jason Batemen), to Super Bad and other shows and interviews etc, has always been the super sweet, sensitive, lovely boy who would take care of you and be your friend forever no matter what happened. Everybody can fall in love with this type of boy. Guileless, intelligent, non game playing, communicative, there for you, every good thing, not stupidly aloof, but with a thoughtful edge to him..so he is not a total dork... :)
I was concerned that kids would see this movie and think that Michael Cera's character would be what real life was like if they went through the same thing.
I don't believe that the kids relationship is in any way realistic. I could be wrong but I doubt it.
What People also seemed to forget in the movie, that the character of Juno is still a little girl. No matter that she was pregnant and witty and cool. She was still very young and kinda oblivious. like we all are at that age even though we think we know a lot.
Which is why it shocked her to the core when Jason Bateman's character did what he did later on.
She was just being a kid, into movies and music, talking to some old dude who seemed to dig the stuff she liked.
He was just adult male gone awry-as usual.
It felt weird from the get go, but I thought I was overreacting till Juno asked if Vanessa was home and he said OUT OF THE BLUE:
"No we are safe"
I was like
WHAT THE HELL! (in my mind, in my mind)
I think my friend was blown away too...He thought they set it up so that Juno would be the one to start mess.
Remember she is a kid who made a mistake...
Other than that...cool movie
ps: who else thought that Allison Janney was great as the stepmom in this movie?!
She kept me glued apart from Ellen Page (as Juno)

But then
Reasons to take care of yourself
Exercise
Keep away from ingesting stimulants and toxins as much as you can
Cleanse your system
Treat people well
Give of yourself to others.
Make the world a better place for you having been a part of it
Be consistently you no matter what the circumstance, no matter what anyone does to you.
Pray
That is good practice in general
But another reason is this...when you get ill...
Hospital gowns are the most unflattering pieces of apparel ever
So if for that reason ALONE, take care of yourself
I was horrified when I looked at this in the mirror.
Plus how many people had worn this before me and it was just ew.
I am going to have to design some flattering gown-wear...This is not a good thing at all....
Plus, no matter how good the insurance is the 20% you have to pay is still going to give you the heebies...illness sucks :)
(The worst part to me is the robe)

Better Together
Verse 1:]
There's no combination of words
I could put on the back of a postcard,
No song that I could sing
But I can try for your heart,
Our dreams, and they are made out of real things,
Like a shoebox of photographs,
With sepiatone loving,
Love is the answer
At least for most of the questions in my heart ,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?
And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,
And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together
[Chorus:]
MMM, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, we'll look at the stars when we're together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, it's always better when we're together
[Verse 2:]
And all of these moments
Just might find their way into my dreams tonight
But I know that they'll be gone,
When the morning light sings
And brings new things,
But tomorrow night you see
That they'll be gone too,
Too many things I have to do,
But if all of these dreams might find their way
Into my day to day scene
I'll be under the impression,
I was somewhere in-between
With only two,
Just me and you
Not so many things we got to do,
Or places we got to be
We'll sit beneath the mango tree now
Yeah, it's always better when we're together
MMM, We're somewhere in-between together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, it's always better when we're together
Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm
I believe in memories
They look so, so pretty when I sleep
Hey now, and when, and when I wake up,
You look so pretty sleeping next to me
But there is not enough time,
And there is no, no song I could sing
And there is no combination of words I could say
But I will still tell you one thing,
We're better together
Northanger Abbey
"Prepare for your sister-in-law, Eleanor, and such a sister-in-law as you must delight in! Open, candid, artless, guileless, with affections strong but simple, forming no pretensions, and knowing no disguise."

Can't
Only somebody like Zadie Smith can effectively 'write me' into existence right now.
Heavy sadness settled on me.
The first time in a very long time...
Zadie can write about the puppet strings of a Cunumunu.
Short yet very elastic.....
Ok I am starting to make myself laugh and I seriously was feeling for a few hours of unabashed self pity...
Oh well...maybe next time...
Persuasion
I love Anthony Stewart Head as Baronet Elliot.
Having only known him as Giles In that TV series (where I adored him btw), it was good to see his range here. He was brilliant, even in this small part.
Sally Hawkins as Anne was nicely done.
However, I think that something was missing from the film...
Some small piece of 'something'. I believe it is was the introduction of Wentworth and development of his character as well as the relationships with the Musgrove daughters and Anne.
It needed a little more of that to kind of develop the Anne Elliot and Wentworth relationship.
Also the relationship between Mrs Clay and the Baronet maybe...
I dunno...The movie didn't last two full hours commercial free, so they could have done more with the time.
